ITANAGAR, Oct 13 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu will be the BJPs Chief Ministerial candidate in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State. On the other hand, State BJP president Tapir Gao will be the party candidate for the Arunachal East Lok Sabha seat, stated senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today.

The ensuing Assembly elections will be fought with Pema Khandu as the Chief Ministerial candidate and there should be no confusion in this regard, said Mein while addressing a mandal-level party meeting at Alubari under the Chongkham Assembly Constituency in Namsai district.

The Deputy Chief Minister exhorted the party workers to gear up for the ensuing polls. Dwelling on the development front, Mein claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the landscape of the North East has completely changed.

Addressing the meeting, State BJP chief Gao spoke on various flagship schemes of the Government both at the Centre and in the State and stressed the need to disseminate the programmes and policies so that the common man can benefit from them.

Gao also cleared the air on the claim of the National Peoples Party regarding an alliance with the saffron party, stating that the BJP has no truck with that party and that it will fight all the 60 Assembly and two Parliamentary seats on its own.

Alliance with the NPP in some North Eastern States was made post the elections. Though the NPP is a part of the North East Democratic Alliance, it does not mean that it is a political ally of the BJP at all levels and in all States, Gao maintained.

BJP MLAs Chow Tewa Mein and Chow Zingnu Namchoom, and Namsai district BJP president Chow Sujana Namchoom also addressed the meeting.
