ITANAGAR, June 19 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has welcomed the decision of BJP to propose Bihar Governor and Dalit leader Ram Nath Kovinds name for countrys next President.

At a press conference in Delhi after a meeting of BJPs parliamentary board today, party chief Amit Shah announced the 71-year-old former lawyer and two-time Rajya Sabha MPs name for President of India.

Seconding the Prime Minister Narendra Modis observation that Kovind will make an exceptional President, Khandu said Kovindji with his humble background and vast experience would make one of the best Presidents and uphold the sanctity of the highest post of the country.

I wholeheartedly support the NDAs choice for the Presidents post. Hailing from a backward class, Kovindji has successfully overcome all odds and reached the pinnacle of success, Khandu added.

He appealed to all political parties to support the decision taken by BJP and unanimously elect Kovind as the next President.
