HAILAKANDI, May 29 � The 116th birth anniversary of Bidrohi Kavi Nazrul Islam was observed at Rabindra Bhavan here with a day-long programme under the auspices of Barak Upatyaka Banga Sahitya O Sanskriti Sanmilan. The programme began with the lighting of lamp and garlanding on the portrait of Kavi Nazrul.
The meeting held on the occasion was addressed by the president of the Sanmilan, Nitish Bhattacharjee and Dr Indira Bhattacharjee, Anindya Nath, Nijam Uddin, Sukomal Paul, and Hirakjyoti Chakraborty, among others. All of them highlighted the life and contributions of Nazrul Islam.
