NILAMBAZAR, Dec 15 The Karimganj MP, Radeshyam Biswas has demanded immediate revival of all the local passenger trains of Karimganj and Hailakandi districts. The NF Railway authority had suspended all local trains due to the gauge conversion from Lumding to Silchar line from October 1 last. He submitted a memorandum to this effect to the General Manager, NF Railway, Maligaon recently.

In the memorandum, Radeshyam Biswas said that the gauge conversation from Badarpur to Agartala, Karimganj to Dullabcherra, Karimganj to Mahishasin and Badarpur to Bhairabi will start in the second phase after completion of the gauge conversion work from Lumding to Silchar. But the authority concerned has suspended all local trains in those particular routes, creating immense trouble for the people of Karimganj and Hailakandi districts.

It is to be mentioned here that the second phase line will be completed within March 2016 as per the previous announcement of the Railways. So this will pose immense problems for the people of the area for a long time. He also mentioned that the passenger trains from Karimganj to Agartala are running with very few compartments, creating untold sufferings for the passengers on that route.

The Karimganj MP, however, extended his full support to the gauge conversion work from Lumding to Silchar.
