GUWAHATI, July 29 - The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has taken charge of the assets of the Kamakhya Debutter Board and made a list of all the properties that have been handed over to it.

An official statement issued by the district administration today said that while it has taken charge of all the assets handed over by the Kamakhya Debutter Board, the administration will continue to keep an eye to check if any more assets still remain in the hands of the Debutter Board.

This follows the Supreme Courts decision earlier this month to uphold the verdict of the Gauhati High Court, paving the way for the dolois of Kamakhya to run the affairs of the historic temple.

Following the apex court directive, the district administration had asked the Kamakhya Debutter Board to hand over all its properties and documents present in the temple by July 20.

However, the failure of the Board to adhere to the deadline forced the administration to act and take over some assets last week, including a lodge and a guest house in the vicinity of the Kamakhya Temple, which were being managed by the Debutter Board.

All the assets will, in turn, be handed over to the Bordeuri Samaj by August 4.

However, the Debutter Board has not yet been able to submit financial details, including cheque books, ledger books, salary register, staff register and bank statements.
