GUWAHATI, Feb 8 - The Assam Science Society has mourned the death of noted mathematician Dr Kailash Goswami, a former mathematics teacher in B Borooah College here and a former general secretary of the Assam Academy of Mathematics. Goswami died on Thursday at a city hospital following a lung infection. He was 74.
Goswami popularised mathematics among students as well as guardians. He wrote several books and delivered innumerable lectures to popularise mathematics in the State. He received the National Council for Science and Technology Communication Award for his writings on mathematics. He was also associated with the Assam Science Society.
The Science Society held a condolence meeting at its headquarters here today to mourn the death of Dr Goswami. It said in a condolence message that Dr Goswami�s death has caused a void in the field of popular science movement.
