Journalists demand new wage board

GUWAHATI, Oct 10 - In support of various demands, hundreds of journalists and non-journalists from different corners of the country today took part in the protest organized by the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Unions at the Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

The protestors demanded not to repeal the �Working Journalists (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955� and to introduce new wage board for the welfare of both journalist and non-journalist working in the various media houses of India.

Shiva Prasad Deka, president of the Assam Tribune Employees Union and its general secretary Jiten Kalita also took part in the protest.
