Journalist dies in road mishap

GUWAHATI, March 31 - Dimpi Baishya, a young journalist of the city died on the spot in a road accident that took place at Sundarpur on RG Baruah Road late Monday night here. She was 22 and was working with a local news web portal.

Her colleague Arup Morang also sustained multiple injuries. Morang is now undergoing at a city-based private hospital and has been reported to be out of danger.

The accident occurred when the scooty on which the journalists were riding, hit a roadside electricity pole. They were on their way home after duty. The deceased was a resident of Beltola Survey area of the city.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the Guwahati Press Club have mourned the untimely demise of the young journalist.
