JORHAT, Dec 16 - Jorhat Medical College and Hospital authorities have dismissed Pankaj Baishya, a support staff, from service.

A JMCH official stated that Baishya, who was working on a contractual basis under the National Health Mission (Assam) at the Special Care Unit of the JMCH, was dismissed from service on Tuesday after he was arrested by police in Guwahati on Monday on charges of physically attacking a nurse of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital in the campus of the GMCH.

The nurse sustained serious injuries while a journalist of a Guwahati-based satellite news channel present at the spot, who reportedly tried to save the nurse, received grievous injuries too.
