MUMBAI, Oct 2: Jamshedpur FC made a winning start in the 5th edition of the Hero Indian Super League. In their opening match of the season, Jamshedpur FC got the better of Mumbai City FC 2-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena here today.

Jerry Mawhmingthanga and Carlos Calvo combined well from the word go and built a couple of good moves down the right flank. In the fifth minute, Jerry sent a cross from the right but Mario Arques failed to volley home from inside the box. However, Mario managed to finish the ball with a sharp header getting a floater sent by Carlos Calvo in the 28th minute.

The first session was distinctly dominated by Jamshedpur FC with better team work.

Jamshedpur boys started the second session from where they had left before the break. Carlos Calvo made a brilliant centre from left and Tiri attacked at the far post. But the experienced Mumbai defender Lucian Goian saved his side with a spectacular effort which could have otherwise doubled Jamshedpurs lead.

Towards the fag end of the match, a fast counter-attack from the visitors saw them sealing the three points with authority as Pablo Morgado made it 2-0 in the additional minutes of the match. Agencies
