ITANAGAR, Aug 4 - A plantation programme held at the Raj Bhavan here marked the celebration of the Jadi Buti Diwas (Medicinal Plants Day) today. On the occasion, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig Dr BD Mishra (retd) and his wife Neelam Misra planted saplings of giloy, turmeric, black pepper and tulsi on the Raj Bhavan premises.
The Governor said that herbs like giloy, turmeric, black pepper and tulsi taken in appropriate quantities develop the body�s resistance against diseases. Mishra said that giloy boosts immunity, helps in getting rid of recurrent fever due to its antipyretic nature, improves digestion, and cures bowel-related problems.
The Governor said that people should grow medicinal plants in their homes and herbal gardens. He called upon the people to start herbal gardens while availing of benefits from the State Government�s cluster farming and nutritional kitchen garden schemes. The Governor�s wife also distributed giloy stems to Raj Bhavan officials.
