IRS officers contribute to CM fund

GUWAHATI, Aug 6 - A delegation of IRS officers yesterday called on Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his residence and handed him a cheque of Rs 2.28 lakh towards flood relief, stated a press release issued here on Thursday.

The amount was contributed from the salary of IRS officers posted in the North East region. The delegation included Joint Commissioner Rocktim Saikia and Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax Mrityunjay Bansal, Priyanka Sharma Bansal and Tapan Deka.

The Chief Minister took his time out to discuss the current financial situation of Assam and various other issues and developments in recent times. He said he looked forward to suggestions from the IRS fraternity to improve the financial condition brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the release added.
