Irrigation Dept Secy arrested for corruption

GUWAHATI, March 28 - Sleuths of anti-corruption and vigilance wing today arrested Kujendra Doley, Secretary, Irrigation Department, for allegedly accepting bribe from a contractor at his office in the State Secretariat.

Doley was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of the bribe amount demanded. �He was caught while he was accepting Rs 15,000 as the first instalment. He had demanded Rs 80,000 to clear the bill due to the contractor in question,� sources said.

The investigating agency also carried out searches both in his Secretariat (Janata Bhawan) office and residence located at Six Mile area and cash worth a sizeable amount has been reportedly recovered.
