Int�l day against drug abuse observed

DOOMDOOMA, June 26 - International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a United Nations international day against drug abuse and illegal drug trade. It has been observed annually on June 26 since 1989.

On the occasion, the Central Weapon Store (FAW - 1) of Indo-Tibet Border Police situated at Rupai Siding here in association with the NSS unit of Doomdooma College brought out an awareness rally at Rupai Siding today. Inaugurating the rally, Manish Bhatia, the second-in-command of the CWS of ITBP urged the students to keep themselves aloof from all kinds of drugs and other intoxicants and make our society a healthy one.

The NCC unit of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya also brought out an awareness rally at Doomdooma town on the occasion. Students shouted slogans against the use of tobacco, alcohol and other intoxicants.

Our Staff Correspondent from Jorhat adds: A motorbike rally was organized by Jorhat Police in Jorhat town today to create awareness about drug abuse and illicit trafficking on the occasion of International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
