India three wickets away from win at tea

KOLKATA, Feb 18 (PTI): A 70-run unbeaten partnership between Hashim Amla and Wayne Parnell stood between victory and India as South Africa were 250 for seven at tea on the last day of the second and final cricket Test at Eden Gardens here today.

Amla (106 batting), who scored his third century in this series, once again proved to be India's nemesis as he stood tall in an otherwise South African lacklustre batting.

Parnell (22 batting), who came out at number nine, was giving Amla a fine support at the other end to frustrate the hosts, who are three wickets shy of a series-levelling win that will also help them retain the number one spot in ICC rankings.
