India, Myanmar discuss bilateral issues

NEW DELHI, June 8 - India has pressed Myanmar to check the activities of the Northeast-based insurgents groups operating out of the neighbouring country. The issue figured at the 17th round of the Foreign Office Consultations between the two countries on Thursday.

The Indian side was led by Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, while the Myanmarese side was led by Permanent Secretary, Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Myint Thu.

�During the discussions, the two sides reviewed the complete range of bilateral relations, including high level visits, security and defense-related issues, boundary issue and border management, trade and commerce, development cooperation, connectivity, cultural and consular matters. They also exchanged views on sub-regional, regional and global issues of mutual interest, said the official sources.
