JORABAT, Oct 1 - Acting against a notorious timber smuggler, a Jorabat forest office team last night was able to seize a truck carrying an illegal consignment of timber.
Jorabat Forest Beat Officer Jintu M Talukdar, who led the operation, said, �Based on secret inputs, we were on alert for the last three to four days and finally got hold of the truck last night on the National Highway-37 near Jorabat. We have sent the truck to the divisional forest office.� The truck (AS 01KC 3393) was carrying the timber from Meghalaya and was heading towards upper Assam, informed Talukdar.
The driver has been apprehended.
