GUWAHATI, Dec 17 - IIT Roorkee, Madras, BHU and Delhi entered the semifinals defeating Kharagpur, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Guwahati respectively in men�s hockey of the ongoing 53rd Inter IIT Sports Meet held at IIT Guwahati. In football, IIT Guwahati drubbed IIT Bhilai 6-0. IIT Delhi beat IIT Jodhpur 3-0 while in other matches, IIT Kharagpur defeated Bhubaneshwar 4-3, IIT Dhanbad beat Gandhinagar 4-2 and IIT Kanpur beat Bombay 2-1.
In squash IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras swept IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati respectively by 3-0 while Delhi beat Roorkee by 2-1.
In volleyball IIT Patna and IIT Kanpur defeated IIT Ropar and IIT Madras 3-2 and 3-0 respectively.
In cricket, IIT Madras, Mandi, Bombay, BHU, Roorkee, Kanpur and Guwahati won their respective pre quarterfinal games and will compete against each other in the quarterfinals. The table tennis event saw some close affairs with Kharagpur and Kanpur beating Delhi and Gandhinagar respectively 3-2. In another match, host team won 3-0 against IIT Bhilai.
In women�s badminton, IIT Kanpur, Bombay, Kharagpur, Pallakad and Jodhpur beat IIT Gandhinagar, BHU, Delhi, Indore and Dharwad respectively 2-0 while IIT Ropar defeated IIT Dhanbad by 2-1.
