IIT aquatic meet begins

GUWAHATI, Oct 3 - The 34th Inter IIT Aquatics Meet being organised by IIT Guwahati at its campus got off to a glittering start today.

Arjuna awardee swimmer Sajan Prakash, who has the highest number of national records in his kitty in long course and short course, was the chief guest in the opening ceremony.

Prakash, a member of the Indian swimming team in Rio Olympics, addressed in the opening ceremony and motivated the students. The meet features over twenty races, a league style water polo tournament and approximately 150 students � from eight IITs.

Day one of the championship witnessed some great individual and team events. The icing on the cake was the much anticipated water polo match between IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee. IIT Kanpur defeated IIT Roorkee 21-2.
