DOOMDOOMA, Sept 21 - Hoonlal Higher Secondary School, Doomdooma beat Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Digboi 2-0 to become champions in the Tinsukia district level inter high and higher secondary school football tournament.
The first half of the exciting final played at the Doomdooma Town Field on Friday ended in a goalless draw. But, forward Bhola Gowala of Hoonlal HS School scored two back to back goals in the 62nd and 64th minutes respectively to help his team to win the crown.
Bhola was adjudged as the player of the match while Ranjit Borah of Vivekananda Higher Secondary School received the best goalkeeper award.
Doomdooma MLA Durga Bhumij, Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, the Inspector of Schools, Tinsukia District Circle Bitupon Hazarika and sports organiser Lalit Gogoi distributed the prizes. The champion team has qualified for the Upper Assam Zone Inter District High and Higher Secondary School Football Tournament.
