GUWAHATI, July 30 - The Journalists� Association of Assam (JAA), in its meeting on Thursday, paid homage to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The meeting also condoled the death of former Union minister Bijoy Krishna Handique.
The meeting held under the presidentship of DN Chakravartty discussed ways and means for building up the JAA as the largest organisation of journalists in the eastern part of the country.
JAA secretary Bhupen Goswami, in his report, said that over 200 journalists in different districts of Assam had enlisted themselves as members of the association during the past one year.
The meeting decided to send delegates to attend the annual session of its parent body to be held in Delhi from September 12 to 14. The association also decided to hold its annual general meeting on December 12 and 13.
