BOKAKHAT/ DERGAON, Oct 3 - Inaugurating the newly constructed 200-bed civil hospital at Bokakhat in Golaghat district on Saturday, State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, �I have felt immense pleasure after getting the privilege of inaugurating the new building of Swahid Kamala Miri Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital today as I laid the foundation stone of the same in 2018 amid huge gathering of public.�
Inaugurating the hospital, the minister said that the State government had done everything for the people during this COVID-19 pandemic too.
Narrating the success, the minister said that he laid the foundation stone of the civil hospital with a cost of Rs 12,05,61,900 in October, 2018, and again inaugurated the same in October, 2020, which is a rare for a politician.
Attributing all the success to local MLA Atul Bora, he said that the hospital is provided with facilities like ICU, child care and burning care centre. Considering the rampant vehicle accidents on NH-37, Sarma said that a trauma centre at a cost of Rs 13 crore will also be added to the hospital.
The minister also said that a medical college and Sati Sadhana University will be set up in Golaghat district in the next 5 years. Citing the ex-gratia to youths who returned from the other States and girl students, the minister said that though other States cut the salary of employees up to 50 per cent, but Assam government has been paying full till today.
Disclosing the fact of COVID-19, the minister said that as many as 700 persons died of the virus till date where about 1.8 lakhs had been infected and 31,000 were still under treatment. He also said that the government has a dream to develop Bokakhat to a tourist town.
Replying a question by the mediapersons, the minister said that after the Durga Puja, the seat understanding with AGP would be done.
Delivering his speech in the meeting held after the inauguration of the hospital at Bokakhat Natya Mandir, Minister Atul Bora appraised the Health and Finance Minister about the problems of the constituency, especially the flood-related situation.
The meeting also attended by Minister Piyush Hazarika, MP Pallab Lochan Das, CEM Karbi Anglong Tuliram Ronghang, among others.
