High Court ruling on PIL

GUWAHATI, March 20 - In response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed on the basis of a news report �Insensitive Army act adding to wild elephants� woes� that appeared in The Assam Tribune on March 12, the Gauhati High Court has ruled that the petitioner may put forward any suggestion either to the Army authorities or the forest department.

�In future, if any grievance arises, liberty is reserved to the petitioner to approach the court,� the court said in response to a PIL filed by Mokibul Islam, who was represented by advocate BK Mahajan.

The Union of India was represented by Assistant Solicitor General of India SC Keyal.
