Heavy storm lashes Paschim Nalbari area

GUWAHATI, May 9 � A heavy storm lashed most of the villages of Paschim Nalbari on May 4 at around 11 pm causing substantial damage.

At least 200 big trees were uprooted, besides snapping vital power transmission lines and causing surface communication hurdles due to blockage of roads by broken branches and trees.

More than 500 houses and cowsheds in the area were damaged by the thunderstorms. Some cattle belonging to the villages sustained injuries following dismantling of the cowshed due to the storm.

The villagers in most of the affected areas were caught unawares as the thunder shower started with a drizzle.

The villages which were mostly affected in the area included Chamata, Jagara, Kakaya, Balowa, Gamariguri , Kulbil, Nadla, Barbara, Sanora, Sandhli, Kaithalkuchi, Barpit, Lakhopur, Haribhanga, Bali, Makhibaha, Piplabari, Mathurapur, Tihu, Ranakuchi Haldhibari etc.
