HC directive to APSC

GUWAHATI, July 30 - The Gauhati High Court in response to a PIL filed by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi, has directed the secretary, Assam Public Service Commission, to furnish an affidavit detailing the practice and procedure followed by it while conducting the examination.

The State Government has also been asked to submit the status report of the investigation into the corruption charges against APSC chairman Rakesh Paul vis-a-vis the report of the Superintendent of Police of the Assam Police�s Anti-Corruption Branch.

While advocate Bijon Kumar Mahajan appeared for the petitioner, senior counsel Niloy Dutta represented the APSC. The State Government was represented by Advocate General AC Buragohain. The next date for hearing has been fixed on August 14.

The KMSS, through the PIL, had challenged the entire process of the APSC conducted examination, thereby seeking reforms.
