GUWAHATI, May 2 - The All Assam Harijan Mazdoor Union on Saturday called for the inclusion of sanitation workers in the insurance scheme announced by the Central government.
The union in a statement said the cleaners, sweepers and other cleaning workers working in various sectors across the State are playing an important role in the government�s fight against the pandemic.
These people are very vulnerable to the pandemic. Even some of the workers working in interior parts of the State do not have self-protection gears, said the statement, adding that these people should be brought under the policy of insurance cover.
