Hangpan Dada�s memorial unveiled in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, May 27 - A memorial to martyred Havildar Hangpan Dada, Ashok Chakra (posthumous) was unveiled by Maj Gen Gajinder Singh, General Officer Commanding, 2 Mountain Division, at late Dada�s native village Borduria under Tirap district on Saturday on the occasion of his 2nd death anniversary.

The Army personnel also gave a guard of honour as a mark of tribute to late Dada, who died fighting terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir on May 26, 2016.

The memorial was constructed by State PWD at an estimated cost of Rs 28 lakh.

In recognition of his gallantry of highest order, Dada was honoured with the highest gallantry award during peace-time operations � the Ashok Chakra, posthumously on the occasion of Independence Day in 2017. He was also honoured with Arunachal Govt�s highest civilian award �Arunachal Ratna� during this year�s Statehood Day celebration.
