GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - The Gauhati University Teachers� Association (GUTA) resorted to a sit-in strike yesterday in front of the office of the GU Vice Chancellor for three hours, starting from 11 am in support of their certain long-standing demands, stated a press release.
The demands of the Association are to stop irregularities in the deposit of amount deducted against NPS, provide pension/GPF benefits to GU teachers as per the State government's rules, institute an enquiry into the anomalies in the Office of the Academic Registrar, GU by an enquiry team headed by a Dean of the varsity, remove the problems associated with inordinate delay in declaration of results of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, etc.
The GU authorities assured the Association to resolve the issues after the puja vacation is over.
The Association also stated that if the varsity authorities fail to resolve these issues soon, it would resort to another series of agitation, added the release.
