Governor appeals for wildlife protection

GUWAHATI, Oct 1 � Governor JB Patnaik today appealed to the public to help conserve wildlife and protect the natural environment, in his message marking the commencement of Wildlife Week in the State.

In his speech, he expressed appreciation of the work being carried out by forest personnel, for their role in extending protection to flora and fauna, which he described as a nation's valued heritage.

In his message, the Governor said that Assam possessed a fantastic assemblage of plants and animals, for which it was well known in the world.
