Golaghat win RG soccer inaugural match

GUWAHATI, Jan 7 - Golaghat won the inaugural match of the RG Baruah AASU Gold Cup Football Tournament at Bokakhat today.

Golaghat edged past Morigaon 2-1 in the opening encounter of the tournament which has been organised by the AASU for the students below 19 years. Altogether 23 districts are taking part in the meet.

International footballer Haokip in the presence of former international footballers of the State including Gilbertson Sangma, Tasen Bora and Debashis Roy were felicitated during the inaugural ceremony.

Earlier, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath hoisted the AASU flag while secretary Lorin Jyoti Gogoi initiated the Swahid Tarpan programme. AASU chief adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharyya paid floral tribute at the portrait of RG Baruah.

The championship has been organised by the Golaghat District Students� Union in collaboration with Bokakhat Sub Division Students� Union.
