BOKAKHAT, June 4 The Golaghat district unit of the AASU has come down heavily on Kaliabor MP Gourav Gogoi for his alleged irresponsible and baseless comments that there are no Bangladeshis in the State.

Addressing a news conference held at the AASU units office here on June 1, Dadul Borah, president of the student body, condemned the baseless statement reportedly made by the MP.

The president and the secretary of the Golaghat AASU unit said that they have been demanding the Government to detect and deport Bangladeshis from Assam, especially from the fringe areas of the Kaziranga National Park.

During the last ten years, a series of rallies, including human chains, sit-in demonstrations, road blockades, etc., had been organised over the demand. Even the Supreme Court of India has noticed the illegal infiltration of foreigners.

At this critical juncture, the Kaliabor MPs hollow statement is not only baseless and irresponsible, but also politically motivated, the AASU leaders said.
