Gohela strikes 4 gold as Assam archers shine

GUWAHATI, Jan 23 � Gohela Boro hit four gold medals, three individual and one in team event on the third day of the four-day 60th National school Games Archery Championship here today.

Gohela won individual gold medals in U-19 girls 50m Indian Round, 30m Indian Round, overall champion in Indian Round and U-19 girls team event.

Other Assam archers Kampa Narzary (U-17 boys 40m Indian Round), Aron Raja Boro (U-17 boys 30m Indian Round), U-17 girls team in recurve, Sanswrang Uzir (U-19 boys 30m Indian Round), U-19 girls team in Indian Round won gold medals for Assam.

Akhapwr Basumatary (silver in U-17 girls over all), U-17 boys team in Indian Round won silver medals while Sabit Khaklary (U-19 boys over all), U-19 boys team in Indian Round bagged bronze medals today.

However, Maharashtra archers drew the highlight of the day by winning as many as eight gold, six silver and a bronze medals. Manipur (three), Delhi, Rajasthan (two each) and Madhya Pradesh were the other gold medal winning teams on the third day. Bhagyashri Kolte of Maharashtra won three individual gold medals in girls U-19 category.
