GUWAHATI, July 22 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today urged Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to release the balance Grants-in-Aid recommended by the 13th Finance Commission for police housing and training during the 2010-15 period, stated an official press release.
In a letter to Union Minister Jaitley, Chief Minister Gogoi said that his ministry has only released Rs 25 crore as against Rs 100 crore recommended by the 13th Finance Commission for police housing and training.
The Chief Minister, in his letter, apprised the Union Minister of the fact that the State government had already submitted utilisation certificate for Rs 25 crore, along with other supporting documents, as sought by the Ministry of Finance.
Despite the submission of utilisation certificate, the Ministry is yet to release the balance of Rs 75 crore against these two sectors under the 13th Finance Commission Award, the Chief Minister said.
Gogoi further informed Jaitley that a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary wherein action plans had been approved against the entire recommended amount of Rs 100 crore for police housing and training. Execution of the approved schemes is going on in full swing and payments are not in commensuration to the execution of the works, he said.
