Gogoi to be discharged from hospital tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Sept 2 (PTI) - Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, currently recuperating after a heart surgery in Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute, will be released from the hospital tomorrow.

An official spokesman said here today that Gogoi, who responded well to the treatment and had shown remarkable post-operation recovery, will stay in Mumbai for three more days after his discharge.

Gogoi is scheduled to leave for New Delhi on September 6 and likely to reach Guwahati on September 8.

He underwent a bypass, aortic valve replacement and enlargement of the aorta procedure on August 4.

Gogoi had fallen ill while attending the National Development Council meet in New Delhi and was later shifted to Mumbai for the operation.

A team of 11 doctors, led by eminent cardiac surgeon Dr Ramakanta Panda, was attending on Gogoi.
