SILAPATHAR, Oct 22 - The Galo-Mising Coordination Committee was constituted with an objective to bring back the lost glory of Galo-Mising relationship at the Dimow Community Hall on October 20 under Silapathar Police Station in Dhemaji district.
The Galos are inhabitants of Arunachal Pradesh and Misings are inhabitants of Assam. The Galo, Mising, Adi, Nishi, Apatani, Tagin and Hill Miri are sons of Abutani and Tani clan respectively.
The Mising community resides in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, while Adi, Nishi, Galo, Apatani, Tagin and Hill Miri are residents of Arunachal Pradesh after division of boundary of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The Tani clans like Adi, Mising, Galo, Nishi, Tagin, Hill Miri and Apatani use the same language, same religion and same ornaments from time immemorial, besides the Mongoloid community.
The Mising community celebrates the Ali Aye Ligang of the Misings and Solung festival of the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The Mising community has decided to celebrate the Mopin festival of the Galos from this year. In this regard, a strong Galo-Mising coordination committee was constituted to ensure success of the programme.
The Galo-Mising coordination meet was conducted by the chief of the Mising Autonomous Council Parmananda Chayengia. The meeting was attended by the MLA of Jonai LAC Bhuban Pegu, Deputy Speaker of MAC Kanak Chandra Doley, Executive member of MAC Johan Doley, GM of MAC Pratap Chandra Taye, secretary of Adi Mising Bane Kebang Raju Medok, president of Galo Welfare Society Sarkar Doiye, president of Galo-Mising coordination committee Kenyam Dabi, Likabali Silapathar Block secretary Mijum Ada, TMPK leader and several others attended the programme.
