GUWAHATI, Feb 11 - The entertaining team of Local Kung Fu and Heavy Budget is back with their new feature film Local Utpaat, which will be released on September 4 this year.

Written and directed by Kenny Basumatary, the teaser of Local Utpaat was released today. To meet the films post production expenses, the team is running a crowdfunding campaign on wishberry.in.

Addressing a press conference, the team members said, People can contribute any amount they wish and get various incentives like an autographed hard copy of a photo from the film, access to watch the film online, or a poster, or a special thank you video from a cast member chosen by the contributor. So far, over 400 people have contributed a total of approximately Rs 4.3 lakh. However, if the target amount of Rs 10 lakh is not reached, all the money will be returned to the contributors. In a YouTube pitch video, writer-director Kenny Basumatary mentioned that although the reviews of Suspended Inspector Boro were very good, they could not afford enough publicity and the film was unable to get enough viewers to recover the budget. Family and friends have chipped in for the cost of food and other daily expenses for the crew, who have all agreed to defer their payments.

I am really lucky to have such a supportive circle of cast, crew and family. Hopefully, this is the last time well have to ask for help, because if Local Utpaat recovers its budget, then we can recycle that same money to make subsequent films. I want to make films in different genres romantic comedy, horror, murder mystery, etc, Basumatary said.

The lead pair in Local Utpaat are Bonny Deori and Poonam Gurung. Bonny is famous as Bonzo, the number 1 Under-18 don from Local Kung Fu and also from his work on the Heavy Budget comedy channel. Poonam was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Prag Cine Awards for her outstanding work in Suspended Inspector Boro. The rest of the cast comprises the usual Local Kung Fu/Heavy Budget team, with the new additions being Himanshu Gogoi and Kaushik Nath from the much acclaimed film Bornodi Bhotiai.

The team had previously crowdfunded Rs 8.9 lakh onwishberry.infor the film Local Kung Fu 2.
