DIBRUGARH, Sept 23 - The Dibrugarh Municipal Board has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on four private nursing homes in the city here for violating the Bio Medical Waste Management Rules.
The action was initiated after it came to the notice of the DMB and the district administration that bio medical wastes from these nursing homes were being discarded directly into the municipal dustbins located near the Dibrugarh Circuit House. The institutions were caught red handed along with the tricycle cart carrying the bio medical waste.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the DMB authorities to ensure strict compliance of the rules and initiate action on any person or institution found violating the provisions in the future.
A letter imposing fine of Rs 50,000 has been issued by DMB to the each of the nursing homes which include Damani�s Nursing Home, Sanjivani Hospital, HM Hospital and MGM hospital. Authorities of all the nursing homes have been asked to deposit the amount in the office of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board, a release stated.
