GUWAHATI, Sept 27 - Four girls of Bamunimaidam area were arrested on Friday by Chandmari police for giving fake documents during their Higher Secondary first year admission at Kamrup Academy College.

Police said the head of the institution had lodged an FIR, following which an investigation was launched.

The accused girls could not furnish their original HSLC pass certificates when sought by the institution authorities. This raised suspicion regarding the documents submitted with the application forms. A verification confirmed that the girls did not clear the HSLC examination. A case was registered under sections 406, 420 and 468 of the Indian Penal Code. Police confirmed that the documents submitted by the girls during the admission process were fake.

Three of the accused girls are minors and have been sent to a shelter home in Boko on the directions of a court. The fourth girl has been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is on as to how the girls got the forged documents.
