Founder president of Asom Jatiyotabadi Dal passes away

GUWAHATI, Nov 12 - Dr. Nessar Ahmed, founder president of Asom Jatiyotabadi Dal (1968), died at city hospital early this morning. He was 80.

Dr Ahmed was instrumental in arousing the greater Assamese nationalistic sentiments amongst the greater Assamese society.

He also contributed considerably towards making Assamese language a medium of instruction.

He served as a professor at the Gauhati Medical College as well as Silchar Medical College.

He left his job to concentrate on his social commitments, both as a doctor as well as in raising social consciousness.

He leaves behind his wife, a daughter, a son and grandchildren.
