JORHAT, July 3 - Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Minister for PWD, Health and Finance today laid the foundation stone of the office of the newly-created Roads division for Majuli island at Garmur headquarters of the district.
Sarma also inaugurated a temporary office of the new division in a government building at Garmur.
A Majuli district administration source said that the minister also laid the foundation stone of an integrated office complex for the district in the area. Sarma later visited the Sri Sri Pitambar Deva Goswami subdivisional Government Civil Hospital at Garmur and spoke to a section of patients undergoing treatment in the hospital, the source stated.
Later, the minister visited Debuttar village in Phulani area of the island to take stock of the ongoing construction work of the 50-bed Government Ayurvedic College.
The foundation stone of the hospital that has been funded by the national AYUS Mission was laid by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in December last year, the source added.
