Former SMCH supdt arrested

SILCHAR, May 10 - Former Superintendent of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Anindya Sunder Baishya has been arrested on allegations of financial anomalies in the fee and dieting sections of the hospital.

According to police, Dr Baishya has been booked under Sections 402 and 409 of the IPC. This move came after Dr Babul Bezbaruah had filed an FIR against him following a departmental probe revealed a scam to the tune of over Rs 3 crore.

It is learnt that Dr Baishya was already sent on suspension after allegations of misappropriation of funds were brought to the fore a few months ago.
