GUWAHATI, June 11: Pankaj Kalita, a Forest department ranger of the Kamrup East Division (Guwahati Range) was arrested on Wednesday night by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on charges of blackmailing.
Kalita was arrested on the strength of an FIR lodged by another Forest department officer, Rabin Baishya.
Baishya in his FIR alleged that the accused was involved with several other persons, including Dulal Baruah, who was arrested a couple of months back.
