Flood affects 43 revenue villages in Golaghat

DERGAON, July 2 - As many as 43 revenue villages in Golaghat district have been affected by the current wave of flood of river Brahmaputra and Gelabeel during the last 24 hours.

According to official source at Golaghat district administration, the three revenue circles namely, Bokakhat, Khumtai and Dergaon have been affected. A total of 23 villages have been affected under Bokakhat revenue circle while 14 in Khumtai and 6 in Dergaon circles have been affected.

Nearly 843.25 hectares of crop land have been submerged by the flood water, out of which 360.25 hectares in Bokakhat circle while 455 hectares in Khumtai and 28 hectares in Dergaon circle.

Estimated 28,765 people have been directly affected in the flood, out of which 25,500 are from Bokakhat circle.

Along with the human beings, about 3950 domestic animals including big, small and poultry have also been severely affected.

DIPRO in-charge Papu Gogoi said that 5 relief camps were opened right now. They are at no. 1 Hatikhuli LP School, no. 2 Hatikhuli LP School, Diffoloo Pathar HS School, Rangajan LP School and National Park HS School with Pilkhana LP School.

He also said that Brahmaputra is flowing with water level at 75.12 m (75 m danger mark) while Dhansiri is flowing with water level at 77.56 m (78.42 m danger mark).
