Fines imposed on violators of GMC rules

GUWAHATI, June 15 - The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today imposed a penalty of Rs 6,46,740 for non-renewal of licence and other irregularities by St Francis De Sales Higher Secondary School at Satgaon and Rs 50,000 on Bailey Company for various irregularities under the provision of GMC Act, 1971.

A team of GMC under the supervision of its Commissioner Devajyoti Hazarika today inspected schools, colleges and other trade premises in Satgaon area.

The team was led by the Collector Navadeep Changmai, Senior Medical Officer Dr Anindita Chanda, Veterinary Officer Dr Pradeep Medhi, Deputy Commissioner (East Zone) Faizur Rahman and Deputy Commissioner (Dispur Zone) Dayal Krishna Mali.

The drive was carried out for examining the disposal systems of solid waste management, including inspection of property tax, trade licence, building permission, parking of school buses, general cleanliness of schools, colleges, etc.
