Fake currency, arms seized

DIPHU, June 8 - Personnel of the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army and Kheroni Police arrested four persons for trading in fake Indian currency and seized fake currencies worth Rs 2.23 lakh from Prilu Theso Ronghang village under the Kheroni police station of West Karbi Anglong district.

The seizure and arrest was made after a search operation based on a specific input of the crime. The four persons arrested in this connection have been identified as Gyan Bahadur Lama (31), Nikhil Terang (19), Faijul Islam (41) and Jayanta Singh (39).

Along with the fake currencies, one 7.65 mm pistol, three live ammunitions and some documents were also recovered from the arrested persons. All the accused were later sent to Hamren jail.
