GUWAHATI, April 8 - North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (NECHRI), Jorabat, organised a treated cancer patients� meet yesterday, where 35 treated cancer patients were given free consultation and check-up, a press release stated.
Editor of Asomiya Pratidin Nitya Bora, in his speech as the chief guest said cancer patients have shown that the dreaded disease can be cured if treatment is taken on time. He felicitated Dr Gaji Ahmed, pioneering cancer specialist, who had started this branch of medicine in Assam 50 years ago. Guest of honour Dr NN Barman, ex-Principal, GMCH, and Mukul Ch Gogoi, State Health Secretary, also spoke. NECHRI Chairman Ganesh Tamuli presided over the meeting. Dr Munindra Narayan Baruah, Managing Director, NECHRI, who is currently in London, addressed the patients and guests through a video-conferencing.
