Erratic power irks Mahendraganj residents

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

TURA, June 17 - Residents of Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills district have complained of intermittent power supply over the past few months. The town has been facing as many as 20 power cuts daily.

It would be better if electricity distribution is taken over once again by the State as MeECL is doing an incompetent job, said a resident.

The issue of intermittent electricity is likely to become an election issue in the upcoming polls in 2018. The constituency was won by Dikkanchi D Shira, the wife of Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma.
