Entrepreneurship development programme

PATACHARKUCHI, Dec 4 - A four-day training programme on entrepreneurship development for the rural people through dairy farming was held recently at the Braja Sarma Naatghar of Pathsala under Bajali Development Block.

The training programme was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Barpeta. Dr Dilip Kumar Dev Choudhury, who was the course director, inaugurated the programme. Haridra Sarma, an agricultural specialist, while taking part in the training programme explained the meaning of entrepreneurship and importance of the Bajali Milk Union Society.

Dr Sunil Sarma, Regional Artificial Insemination Officer, delivered a lecture on maintenance of calf, heifer, milch cow and feeding process. Dr Hitesh Pathak, surgeon of the State Veterinary Dispensary at Patacharkuchi and advisor of the Bajali Milk Union Society, delivered the welcome address.

On the second day, Dr Dilip Dev Choudhury explained the need of establishing a fodder industry in order to reduce the cost of cattle feed. Bhaskar Menta, AGM of NABARD, Barpeta, in his presentation explained about the schemes related to dairy farming that were prevailing in Barpeta district.

TS Begum, Home Science specialist of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Dr Kalyan Talukdar, Veterinary Surgeon of Bamakhata, were also present in the programme. In all, 25 participants from Bajali Milk Union Society took part in the four-day training programme.
