Employees asked to ignore bandh call

JORHAT, Oct 22 - The Jorhat district administration has directed all government offices and educational institutions to function normally tomorrow with full attendance in view of the 12-hour Assam bandh call given by KMSS and several other organisations.

A directive issued by the Jorhat ADC (Magistracy) Manoj Baruah today to all government offices and educational institutions, said that �in light of the order passed by Gauhati High Court and followed by directions by the State Government, the bandh call given by any organisation can be treated as illegal activities.�

Hailakandi Correspondent adds: The Hailakandi district administration has directed its employees to report for duty on Tuesday, the day several organisations have called a Statewide bandh in protest against the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Kokrajhar Correspondent adds: The district administration, Kokrajhar today held an emergent meeting with all heads of the government line departments, members of business organisations, transporters� organisations and social organisations and requested them to keep open their business establishments and services during the Assam bandh call given by certain organisations tomorrow from 5 am to 5 pm as per the judgement and order of the Supreme Court and Gauhati High Court.

Haflong Correspondent adds: A meeting under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, Amitabh Rajkhowa was convened at the DC Conference hall today asking people to ignore the bandh call tomorrow. The meeting was held with various organisations, departmental officials, media representatives etc., to make people aware about the directives of the Supreme Court and Gauhati High Court regarding calling of bandh call by any organisation.

Bongaigaon Correspondent adds: The Bongaigaon District Magistrate Babulal Sharma today issued a prohibitory order Section 144 CrPC in order to maintain law and order in the district. He also had a meeting with local traders at the conference room of his office and called them not to follow any strike/bandh from now on as per the order passed by the Gauhati High Court against bandhs.
