AIZAWL, Aug 14 - Mizorams COVID-19 tally today climbed to 657 with eight more people, including a six-year-old girl, testing positive.

Of the eight new cases, five were reported in Aizawl district, two in Lunglei and one in Kolasib, an official release stated.

Sources said the six-year-old girl from Chaltlang Lily Veng neighbourhood of Aizawl contracted the virus from a policeman who was on duty at a BSF quarantine centre and tested positive earlier this week.

At least nine people have contracted the virus from the police personnel, who had visited several places before testing positive. A complete lockdown and contact tracing are under way in the locality in which the policeman lives and the neighbouring areas.

With four more people being discharged today, as many as 343 people have recovered from the disease. A total of 314 cases are still active in the State.
